What is an Amazon deep link?

An Amazon deep link is a link intended to take a shopper to a specific product in the Amazon shopping app when the device and browser support that behavior. A regular Amazon affiliate URL can also open in the app, but the outcome is often controlled by the operating system and the browser.

Direct and Smart are both deep-link modes

URLViral Direct mode attempts to open the Amazon app without an intermediate choice page. Smart mode provides an intermediate page where visitors can choose the Amazon app or continue on the web. Both should preserve the intended product destination.

Why a browser fallback matters

Some people do not have the Amazon app installed. Other visitors open links inside social-media browsers that limit app handoffs. A working HTTPS product page gives them a path to continue shopping rather than leaving them at a dead end.

Test before sharing

Test the same link on iOS and Android, with and without the Amazon app, and inside Instagram and Pinterest browsers. Check that the final destination is correct and that any permitted affiliate tag survives the redirect. An app launch does not guarantee commission attribution.

App opening, click attribution and Amazon affiliate commissions are not guaranteed. Always test links and follow the policies of Amazon and the platform where you share them.
